My latest line of t-shirts are my “Primeval Animal Gods.”
In my mind these are the guardians of the wildest places in nature still left untouched and uncorrupted by man and industry. These are the gods of wolves, tigers, lions, snow leopards, and bears.
I was inspired by the giant animals in Miyazaki’s Princess Mononoke, tattoo flash, and Hindu and Buddhist iconography. In both religions the third eye is a symbol of ultimate wisdom and some deities are depicted with halos of fire. I went a little crazy with the snow leopard and gave it 5 eyes! I figure the creature known as the “Ghost of the Himalayas” would have to be incredibly wise. Finally, I borrowed the lightning bolts from tattoo iconography.
